James Mattiazzo has dedicated the past 10 years of his life to serving the less fortunate and marginalized in Niagara and other communities across Ontario.
Even before graduating college James was already working on developing programs for Autism Ontario and the Canadian Mental Health association, as well as counselling homeless youth.
James is a trained and certified program writer and facilitator through the UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), John Howard Society, and Brock University. He specialized in integrating art and social skills programming for individuals with developmental disabilities and has facilitated programs in universities across Ontario.
After working at the Boy’s and Girl’s club’s Nightlight Youth Shelter, James spent the next 8 years as a caseworker with the Salvation Army Booth Center before moving on to Start Me Up Niagara to take on a regional program working closely with Niagara’s hardest to serve homeless.
Aside from serving the community as a profession, in 2015 James created a charity called I Am Human. Using his experience an artist, DJ and event coordinator the main focus of this charity is to raise money through arts and music to be donated to or used to help community focused organizations.
James is also a DJ and has been performing at and organizing events since the year 2000. The past few years have been great musically as he has had the opportunity to perform at the Niagara Music Awards, The Mayor’s Au Berg, Niagara Marathon, Welland’s Floatfest, as well as countless charity events. James is really looking forward to adding a spotlight on inclusivity and electronic music to the Niagara Arts showcase.
